Round up for 2009
In October 2009 the club ran an U11 league that was run over three weeks which saw over 40 kid’s battle for the title. There were a total of 58 goals and 39 points scored in the six games to date, with a very high level of skill on display.
There are currently 28 volunteers working with underage football in the parish. Our U-6 and U-8 teams played in locally organised games with Shannon Bridge and Tubber. The U-10 team played 12 League games. The U-12 Team played 8 championship games but failed to make the knockout stages this year. The U-14 Team got to the semi final of the Co. Championship and were unlucky to lose to a strong Gracefield team who went on to win this competition.
The U-16 team won the "A" County Final in O’Connor Park Tullamore against St. Broghan’s and the Minor Team also won the minor final this year. We are very proud off all of them and we are looking forward to 2010 and another successfull year.
The club entered teams in three adult competitions in 2009. Earlier in the year Shannon Gaels (a combination of St. Rynagh’s, Shannonbridge and Lusmagh were narrowly beaten by St. Manchan’s in the U-21 championship.
Our Junior B team, under the management of Michael Guinan and Joe Daly beat Erin Rovers and Doon, drew with Shannonbridge and lost to Tullamore. Unfortunately this meant that they narrowly missed out on a place in the quarterfinals.
Our intermediate team, under the stewardship of Sonny Lynam, emerged from a group containing ourselves, Walsh Island, Kilclonfert and Tullamore. We were drawn to play Raheen in the quarter final and after a struggle in O’Connor Park we defeated Raheen on a score line of 0-12 to 1-06. The team played Walsh Island in the semi final and unfortunately this is where the season ended. The team is looking forward to next season and trying to get back to play senior football again.
