St. Rynagh's Football Club Notes : 30th July

Senior Football

On Friday evening St Rynaghs footballers played their second championship game against Gracefield in Killeigh.  St Rynaghs got off to an ideal start with a goal from Gary Mahon in the first two minutes but Gracefield hit back with a point.  Gracefield took control around the middle of the field putting our backs under pressure for most of the first half.  Gracefield scored 3 unanswered points before Paudie Mulhare scored a point for Rynaghs. A blow for Rynaghs when they lost Niall Wynne early in the half and also Conor Clancy late in the half with a bloody injury.  Half time score Rynaghs 1-1 Gracefield 0-5.  Second half St Rynaghs started better with Pat Camon getting more in the game and putting over points from play.  Ger Rafferty played well at centre back carrying the ball forward.  Gary Mahon put over another point from a free, also subs Steven Quirke and Enda Corcoran raised the white flag but Gracefield pulled away in the last 10 minutes to win by two points.  Final Score St Rynaghs 1-6 Gracefield 0-11.  Team:  C Clancy, S Clancy, T Flaherty, J Carroll, P Quirke, G Rafferty, O McIntyre, P Camon 0-2, J Rafferty, P Grogan, K Flannery, G O'Connor, G Mahon 1-1, P Mulhare 0-1, N Wynne.  Subs: S Quirke 0-1 for N Wynne, D Horan for M Grogan, Enda Corcora 0-1 for O McIntyre.
