St Rynaghs Football club are holding a Tea Party in Cloghan Hall.  This function is part of our club development fundraiser and we require hostesses.  Each hostess will invite people to their table at €15 per head.  Anyone who is not assigned to a table and would like to attend is more than welcome to come along on the night.  Doors open at 9pm dancing until 1.30pm with music provided by Blue Ridge Country.  It promises to be a great social night for all the parish.  For more details contact John Bennett 0876280160, Greg Gilligan 0867752287 and Paddy Daly 0868170704.  Your support will be greatly appreciated for this worthy venture.
Our U16B footballers are still awaiting who we play in the semi final of the championship.  The Coiste na Nog competitions control committee were ordered to investigate the fact that one of the teams in our group, Birr, had conceded two walkovers in the championship before qualifying for the semi finals.  It would be a shame to see them thrown out of the Championship in Cloghan in May and in a great game St Rynaghs won by 2-10 to 3-3.  Birr had their revenge in Birr at the end of August  winning a thriller by 2-7 to 1-8 and no doubt they are a fine team with men like former Offaly footballer David Coofey and John Ryan doing magnificent work promoting the big ball game.  Hopefully common sense will prevail and the situation will be solved pretty quickly.  Our last game in the group stage prior to the semi final was on Monday 5th September when we beat Ballycumber-Tubber in Ballycumber on the scoreline of 0-13 to 1-5.

The U16B football championship was run on a home and away basis this year.We beat Birr at home and lost to them away.  We lost both home and away to Kilcormac-Killoughey.  We beat Ballinamere-Durrow at home and lost away.  We beat Ballycumber-Tubber both home and away and we Beat Der Gaels both home and away.  Joint team managers Tomas Flaherty and John Kerin are doing a great job with the lads.  We await our opponents in the semi final with great anticipation.

Have you visited our website yet?  There is a great volume of pictures and  club information which you can delve through.  click on to  Any persons in the parish wishing to contribute to our website are very welcome.  A few weeks ago it was planned to issue fliers around the parish in relation to the compilation of our football souvenir booklet which we hope to have published next spring.  This certainly is still the case and we hope to have the fliers issued very soon.  They will give details about the booklet format and give people a general idea of what we are doing.  We would like to have the booklet published in time to coincide with the opening of our new club house next year.

Best wishes and good luck to our junior and intermediate hurlers who contest the county finals which will be played in O'Connor Park Tullamore on Sunday 23rd October.  St Rynaghs will play Kinnitty in the junior A decider at 1.45pm and the intermediate will play Brosna Gaels at 3.30pm.  Heres hoping for a double victory lads.
