Minor Football

St Rynaghs minor footballers played Shamrocks in the semi-final of the Shield on Sunday in Pollagh.  This was a great game of football from both sides.  St Rynaghs got off to a good start with Andrew Wynne scoring two points inside the first five minutes and Evan Conroy scoring another two.  Jamie Guinan was in kicking form putting over two frees to leave the  6 points to 3 at half time.  Second half St Rynaghs backs were under pressure from Shamrocks but they stood up to the challenge with all six backs chasing and blocking every ball with Shamrocks ending up losing the ball.  Our midfield worked hard and all our forwards passed the ball well and ran at the Shamrock backs at every opportunity.  Jamie Guinan kicked another three points from frees.  Rory Finnegan also raised the white flag before Andrew Wynne hit the net.  Dean Flynnbroke through the defense and hit a great shot at goal but a great save by the goalie blocked the ball out to the incoming sub Donie Moran and he cracked the ball to the net.  This was a great win for St Rynaghs on a score line of 2-10 to 0-5 points.  Team: C Clancy, M Daly, E Gannon, D Langtry, S Healy, M Byrne, D Daly, G Lynch, R Finnegan 0-1, E Conroy 0-2, D Flynn, A Wynne 1-2, J Guinan 0-5 (frees), D Healy.  Subs: C Gleeson for D Langtry, D Moran 1-0 for R Finnegan.
