Health and Wellbeing is very important to our club and the Cloghan “K” has recently opened and this was part of phase 1 of the club’s development. You can download the Cloghan Slí na Sláinte "Let's go Walking" booklet here. We know that people are more active and more interested in their health than ever before. The club identified that it needed to provide physical activity for people who no longer play GAA games. We have just completed a Slí na Sláinte walk around our town to encourage people of all ages and abilities to walk for leisure and good health. Slí na Sláinte, meaning "Path to Health", is a simple innovative scheme developed by the Irish Heart Foundation to encourage people to walk more frequently and to enjoy the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.
This project was a joint venture between St Rynagh’s Football Club and Cloghan Development Association and the benefit for the community is there for everyone to see. We would also like to acknowledge the financial assistance we received from Leinster Council (GAA), Offaly Local Development Company, Offaly Enterprise Fund (ESB) and the HSE. We are looking for people to get together and set up a walking club and if you are interested please contact any of the committee and we’ll help you get started.
