About The Club

In 2009 the GAA is celebrating their 125th Anniversary and we have enjoyed the celebrations ourselves with a few events. In March we honoured our past players with a function in the hall with the President of the GAA Nickey Brennan. This was a great night for everyone where people who hadn’t seen each other for years met again and enjoyed the stories and the memories from the past. In May we had a great “Lá na gClub” in the sports field where everyone in the community was invited and the day started with Mass. We then had over 120 children who participated in games and enjoyed a BBQ and music and at the end of the day the children participated in a sponsored Jersey Walk. When they completed the walk all the underage players received the new Club Jersey from our Offaly Senior Footballer Ger Rafferty and it’s great to see so many of them wearing them around the town and to training and matches.

Community is at the heart of our GAA Club and Volunteering is what keeps the club alive. This year we have 28 people who look after underage teams and we plan next year to work with the schools in the community to further develop our games in schools. We currently have a development sub-group set up who are looking at ways of improving our club facilities. Over the next few months you will be hearing a lot more about this. We have taken over the old Co-Op window and this is where we are going to display our Club Merchandise, Upcoming Fixtures, Memorabilia and other club information. In

Thanks also to all our sponsors through the year and to everyone who has given their time and energy to keep the club going.
